Residents Association President’s Statement on the Political Situation

“Where is all of the District’s money going? Because it’s sure as hell not out here in the pockets of the people who have to put in the hustle. It’s not going into the pockets of the poor people and the retired people. We don’t have people riding up and down with baskets of food. Half of our people don’t even have transportation. We have to try to scuffle for ourselves. All the money is going to developers.”

“It's not only the developers we should be talking about — it’s the city council too. Maybe the newer representatives will step up and do better, because the older ones really have disappointed us. They get the votes, but what are they doing with them? We have to start putting these people out. In other words, start investigating them. We have to find out where these roads are pointed with all this money that the District is taking in.”

“You have people who have to go live in Virginia and Maryland, and then come back here to make money. And you have people working in Virginia, but living here. Policemen should be able to live here. And firemen. And healthcare workers. They shouldn’t have to ride backward and forward when DC is open. That’s what it’s supposed to be all about.”

“You can tell Edgewood has money. So, you would think they would have cared more about their people and looked out for them. But maintenance people are quitting and resigning. They’re trying to turn this property into a skeleton property in order to punish the people who want to stay. Someone needs to investigate it. They really do.”

“Don’t take my word for it. Do some digging. McDuffie did. He went out and did the study, and he saw what we were saying was true...And then he sided with MidCity anyway. With the next election, people need to get out and vote. They definitely do. We help put him in there. Now we’re going to try to take him out.”
